Network Projects
In the Network Projects team, we support gas network operators in creating specific network models and their optimizing their structure and performance to meet future requirements.
Network operators are faced with the challenge of ensuring long-term security of supply while at the same time reacting flexibly to new gases (hydrogen, biogas) and future renewal requirements. As part of the overall project “H2 Transformation”, we support gas network operators in the transformation of their gas networks for the future distribution of hydrogen.
At the same time, we deal with energy and environmental law issues in the field of gas networks and decarbonization/transformation as well as with approval planning for hydrogen plants and infrastructure.
We offer the following services:
Network modelling and optimization
- Creation of comprehensive network models
- Calculation of hydraulic capacity for different supply situations (e.g. L-H gas market area conversion, conversion of the gas grids to hydrogen, feed-in/blending of biogas and hydrogen)
- Management of pressure and capacity in the network for asset optimization and model adaptation
- Target network planning, network optimization and network renewal planning
- Gas demand forecasting with temperature simulation
H2 readiness transformation paths
- Determination of cost-optimized transformation paths of existing gas networks for the transport and distribution of 100% hydrogen by volume in the future
- Identification of the technical renewal needs and the costs associated with the transformation process
- Conversion of networks to hydrogen (structure, process, measures)
Legal issues
- Approval planning for hydrogen plants & hydrogen infrastructure
- Energy and environmental law issues related to gas networks & decarbonization/conversion
- Legal planning & assessment of CO2 pipelines
- Legal scenario analyses for different projects
- Ongoing assessment of current legislative proposals at EU & national level in the field of gas regulation
