Structure of EN 16510

The EN 16510 series of standards, domestic solid fuel fires, is structured as follows:

Background

At EU level, a so-called COMMISSION IMPLEMENTING DECISION on this series of standards was drawn up at the beginning of 2021 in order to introduce the standard under the EU Construction Products Regulation 305/2011 (CPR) as a harmonized standard to replace the existing standards in the short term. With this approach, it is currently assumed that the series of standards can be introduced by the end of 2021. It will also standardize the ecodesign requirements in accordance with Regulation 2015/1185 by replacing the three dust measurement methods currently described with the newly developed uniform EN-PME measurement method, which will be anchored in EN 16510. In addition to the Ecodesign Regulation EU 2015/1185, Regulation EU 2015/1186 on energy efficiency labeling will also be implemented.

However, as the aim is to have a transitional period of a maximum of 3 years from the new standard coming into force with the old standards, every product that has already been tested must be converted to the new standard during this time and tested if necessary. After this period has expired, declarations of performance may only be issued on the basis of valid test reports in accordance with EN 16510.

As checking the test reports is time-consuming and the transition period will be very short, we recommend that you start looking at your products and the new standard now. We will be happy to help you.

Take advantage of our expertise, our many years of experience and our technical potential to make your products future-proof.
