Gas production & gas storage
Für eine nachhaltige und sichere Gasversorgung müssen technisch realisierbare, ökologisch und ökonomisch vorteilhafte Lösungen entwickelt und umgesetzt werden. Neben dem Engineering hat die angewandte Forschung und die Grundlagenforschung in diesem Fachbereich eine lange Tradition. Wir erforschen und entwickeln Lösungen für die Förderung und Speicherung verschiedener Energieträger darunter Erdgas und Wasserstoff. Ziel ist es, Technologien zum kostengünstigen Ausgleich von Gasbedarfsschwankungen zu entwickeln, die umweltfreundliche Nutzung von Wind- und Solarstrom durch die Wasserstoff-Untergrundspeicherung zu stärken und die klimaneutrale Nutzung fossiler Energieträger mittel der Kohlenstoffdioxid-Untergrundspeicherung zu ermöglichen.

Engineering & Consulting
Our comprehensive services cover a wide range of expertise. We have extensive experience in the fields of GIS applications, 3D modeling, and 3D reservoir simulation as well as with all types of underground gas storage facilities (aquifers, oil-gas fields, caverns), sour gas fields, and heavy oil reservoirs, from geological exploration and commissioning to decommissioning and safe storage.

Research & Development
We are a competent partner for applied research into secure and environmentally compatible energy supply using natural gas as an energy source, underground, large-volume storage of renewable energy using power-to-gas and underground hydrogen storage.
- Suitability studies of reservoir fluids, storage and overburden rocks for natural gas, H2 and CO2 underground gas storage facilities
- Laboratory tests and model adaptations for multiphase flow gas/water/oil, CO2/water and gas mixing (H2/natural gas, L-gas/H-gas)
- Development of thermodynamic and fluid dynamic models for underground storage of specialty gases such as H2 & CO2
- Material designs for special bore completions (H2, CO2)
- Technology development and optimization for low-permeability reservoir rocks
- Reduction of risks in frac/crack production
- Effects of gas accompanying substances on underground and surface installations
